What is B Hockey?

The Developmental B league is a separate division of the Mid-States Club Hockey Association to introduce younger players to high school hockey.  It can include middle school players along with younger high school players who may be playing JV. 

 

When is the B season?

Developmental B League runs in the Spring – typically in April thru June. USA Hockey membership is required – use the number from the preceding winter season.

Do I have to attend Lafayette to play on the B team?

7th and 8th graders should play for the high school they will attend, however if their school is not fielding a B team they are generally free to move around.

 

Is there checking in B hockey?

Yes, there is checking. Referees and coaches are also aware this can be the first exposure of some players to elevated body contact.

Who can play on a B team in Mid-States?

2024 Season- Birth years 2008 - 2010. (Central States 2010 only)
No 6th or 11th graders can be rostered regardless of their birth year.  No AAA, '09 or older Central States/Central States Prospects, Bantam Major or CS Midget Minor/Major players. 

Can I play on a club team at the same time as B?

Yes. Dual rostering is normal and players and coaches normally work around schedule conflicts.
